Sharon had been engaging in fairly heavy drinking behavior since her junior year in college. Now, six years later, she drank more than ever. One Monday night when she was feeling ill, Sharon made up her mind to stay home, loosen up, and watch TV. While hunting for a special program to watch that she would find appealing, she without delay became attracted to a program about young adult and adolescent drinking predicaments.

The speaker articulated the difference between alcohol abuse and alcohol dependency and then discussed the topic of alcoholic symptoms and alcoholic behavior. When the commenter went into detail about a person's symptoms of withdrawal and some of the more familiar alcohol dependency signs and symptoms that alcohol dependent individuals manifest, Sharon got quite alarmed because it basically seemed as if the commenter was talking specifically to her.

After watching the TV special, Sharon made a promise to herself that she would telephone her physician the following morning and schedule an appointment to discuss her abusive and irresponsible drinking.

When the next workday arrived, true to her word, Sharon called her health care provider and made an appointment. While she was waiting for the day of her appointment to arrive, she went on the Internet and did a search for alcoholism symptoms. Especially noteworthy were the following signs or symptoms: serious work-related and relationship problems, making excuses to drink at almost every opportunity, increasing irritability, sleep problems, and sneaking a few extra drinks before social events.

In short, due to the fact that Sharon exhibited all of these symptoms she went deeper in her online search and found several blogs and websites that highlighted different alcoholism symptoms and warning signs. One of the symptoms that really captured her interest was the following: "Do you ever drink after promising yourself that you won't?"

Another alcohol dependency symptom that captured her attention was the following: "Have coworkers pestered you by passing judgment on your irresponsible and abusive drinking?" A third alcoholism symptom was the following: "Do you desire a drink when you first awaken in the morning?"

The final alcoholic warning sign that made her feel relatively anxious about her hazardous and abusive drinking was the following: "Has your motivation decreased since you started drinking on a more regular basis?" When Sharon read this sign she visibly realized that drinking had become a critical problem in her life because of her diminished energy level and also because she gave up pursuing her dreams and her goals.

After thinking about all of these negative alcohol dependency symptoms and signs, Sharon at first felt sad. Then something electrifying took place. She realized that she was going to see her health care provider about her hazardous and abusive drinking and she also knew that she would discuss her alcohol dependency warning symptoms and signs.

In truth, for the first time in more than a few months, Sharon honestly felt a sense of hopefulness because she was addressing her hazardous and abusive drinking and was after all has been said and done ready to make the needed alterations so that she could restore the life that was drifting away.
