Even though Franklin wasn't an attorney, he told his son that he learned the hard way when as a young man he received a "drunk driving" arrest, represented himself in court, paid five thousand dollars in fines and penalties, and served three months in the local city jail. There was, however, one thing that neither Lawrence nor his dad thought about, namely, if Lawrence is manifesting any alcohol abuse signs or perhaps if he is manifesting any of the typical signs of alcoholism. In truth, Lawrence may be required by the court to get rehabilitation for his unhealthy and excessive drinking. The good news, however, is that whatever it takes to deal with his excessive and unhealthy drinking, it seems like Lawrence will be motivated to do the "correct" thing.
